In the beginning...

August 2006. I bought my first Datsun 510. A station wagon. The intention was to have alittle car to get me around the city, but it could still haul a drum set and some guitar gear. What a perfect little machine. The L16 Engine hummed nice, and in fifth gear she crusied the interstates just fine. The Lil' Red Wagon (affectionately known as Billie Holiday) toured my band around San Francisco and Oakland, was steadfast in a California Tour while two lazy travelers camped in the cargo area. The body was straight, the interior devine, and she even had a sweet roof rack that I never used.

One day, I was heading to Oakland for band practice, making a stop en route to pick up some awesome 1" buttons I'd had made up for the band. Rush hour stop and go made the commute unbearable. I checked my gas gauge as traffic began moving again, the needle quivered just above E. I looked up and smashed the brakes just a split second slow. My little Datsun's nose was stuck inside the rear of a Mercedes. Ouch!

One quick look at the gas gauge in stop an go traffic and next thing ya know....you're taking a sawz-all to the front clip and digging through Craigslist for new parts. May 10th (5/10, haha), a week after the accident, there is a Datsun only swap meet! Got a new front clip and it welded together perfectly....throw on a new hood and it's beginning to look like a car again! Primed and Painted, picked up a new grill set and got the last of the parts installed...and she's road worthy again.

Me and Datsun the day I finished the repairs. 3 days later she was sold and I was on a plane headed for Europe.
